The University of Hyderabad is one of the country’s leading institutions for postgraduate teaching and research.. It was established in 1974 as a central university, which is wholly funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university aims to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit and by the example of its industry life and, in specific, to contribute to making special provisions for integrated humanities and science courses in the university’s educational programmes, and to take appropriate measures promoting interdisciplinary studies and research in the university.

Location

The University of Hyderabad is situated in India Post Lingampally, Hyderabad Central University Rd, CUC, Gachibowli, Telangana. One can reach the campus by any means of transport. From RGI Airport, the university is 35 km from the Shamshabad Airport and can be reached by taxi or by bus operated by GMR. The Taxi charges approximately Rs 600 whereas by bus Rs.250. Then get down at Gachibowli and travel another 4 km by auto to reach the university.

Facilities

The facilities provided by the University of Hyderabad include a library, medical, hostel, sport, labs, and much more to cater to the educational needs of the students and staff.

Hostel: The University offers 23 hostels that provide separate accommodations for boys and girls. All the required facilities, including mess, furniture, recreational area, and internet connectivity, are provided to hostellers.

Sports: They offer sports, games, and yoga facilities for the university community to participate in various games and sports and fitness activities of their choice and keep themselves fit and healthy. All the sports equipment of indoor and outdoor are provided.

Library: The university provides library facilities to students and staff through the IGM library. The library is fully digitalized, and all the books and publishes around the world are available.

Medical: Various types of emergency cases round the clock, which are attended by the Doctor on call in the Health Centre and are treated either in the Health Centre or are referred to other Super Speciality Hospitals depending on the case under medical supervision in the Health Centre Ambulance.

Central Instruments Lab: Central Instruments laboratory (CIL) is a central facility with state-of-art sophisticated analytical instruments to cater to the needs of the faculty and research scholars in the university. The primary instruments of CIL include Scanning Electron Microscopy, Confocal Microscope, Spectroscopy (X-Rays, UV-VIS-IR), Spin Resonance studies, and Vibrating Magnetometer.
