Punjabi University (PU), Patiala was established under the Punjab Act No. 35 of 1961 on April 30, 1962. Punjabi University spreads over 600 acres of land. Punjabi University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). PU has emerged into the largest University in the state. This is the second University in the world to be named after a language. Punjabi University currently offers undergraduate courses (B.Tech, B.A. Hons, B.Sc., BBA, B.C.A, LLB), postgraduate courses ( M.Sc., M.Com, MCA, MBA, LLM, M.Ed, M.Pharm, M.P.Ed.) and Ph.D. in various fields.
