Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Karad was established in 1982. The institute acquired the status of a Deemed to be University in 2005. KIMS Karad is recognised by  the Malaysian Medical Council and Medical Council of Sri Lanka. The institute lies with an area of 55.24 acres. The institute also has a hospital inside the campus which provides several facilities  including Critical Care, Endoscopic Surgeries, Dialysis, Cardiology, Cardio-vascular-thoracic-surgery, Oncology, Urology, Neuro surgery, Plastic surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Renal Transplant Unit. All the courses provided to students under this institute are approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute provides undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes on various disciplines. The institute offers admission to programmes based on NEET scores or KAIET (Krishna All India Entrance Test) conducted by the authority.

The nearest railway station to KIMS Karad is the Karad Railway Station which is located 8 kms away and students can reach the campus in approximately 9 mins by taking an auto. The nearest airport to the institute is the Pune Airport which is located about 170 kms away. Students can hire a cab and reach the campus in approximately 3 hrs 30 mins. The nearest bus stand to the institute is the Karad Bus Stand. Students can reach the campus by hiring an auto from the bus stand.

• Journal Club- The Journal Club of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Karad has been formed with the objective of making students develop their interest in writing journals and articles. Members of this club are involved in writing articles for college magazines etc.
• Sports Club- The members of this Club have a keen interest towards sports related activities including indoor and outdoor games. Students of KIMS Karad indulge themselves in different kinds of sports starting from football, cricket, basketball to chess, tennis, carom etc. Members of this club have also participated in different sports events held at inter and intra-level competitions.
