The Dasaratha Deb Memorial College, Khowai started its journey on 24th November,1979 at Khowai Government Higher Secondary School with only 3 students. It was then affiliated to Calcutta University, West Bengal. The foundation stone of new building at its present location was laid by the then Educational Minister, Government of Tripura, Shri Dasaratha Deb.
This Government Degree College was renamed as Dasaratha Deb Memorial College couple of years after our Hon’ble Ex-Chief Minister,Late Shri Dasaratha Deb in 2000. At present, the Institute is offering undergraguate studies in 18 subjects on three main streams Humanities,Commerce and Science and has an approximate strength of 2000 students. Located at an evergreen and serene pollution free atmosphere in Lalchera at a distance of only 2 K.M. from Khowai town, the College itself is a pelindrum of beauty with enchanting greenery all around beautiful lakes and heart soothing scent of champa. The surroundings speak of a combination of beauty and culture.
