Central University of Punjab is a public university established in 2009 by an Act of Parliament (No 25, of 2009). The varsity got 87th ranking in NIRF University Rankings 2020. NAAC has accredited the university with an ‘A’ grade. Adding to it, the university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). CUPB campus is spread over an area of 37 acres and there are a total of 105 faculty members at the university. As per the website of the university, the mission of the Central University of Punjab is to promote innovation in teaching, learning, evaluation and research. The university provides 79 courses at postgraduate and doctoral levels.

Some of the popular courses offered by the varsity are M.Com, L.L.M, M.Pharma, M.Sc.etc. The university offers admission on the basis of the CUCET score. However, CUPB also accepts GATE and GPAT scores for admission in M.Tech and M.Pharma courses respectively. Along with the CUCET score, the varsity also conducts a personal interview for admission in Ph.D programmes. Central University of Punjab focuses on the holistic development of the students. It has collaborations with several national and international institutes/universities.

The university is situated at City Campus, Mansa Road, Bathinda, Punjab. The nearest airport to the university is Bhatinda Airport. It is located 34.2 km away from the campus.     The varsity campus has a well-stocked library that has over 44,000 books and hundreds of journals. Central University of Punjab offers separate accommodation facilities for the boys and girls students. The boys and girls hostels are situated within the campus. A modern auditorium with a seating capacity of 250 people is also available. Furthermore, Central University of Punjab facilities also include a canteen-cum-mess, modern gym, medical centre, laboratories etc. The students and faculty members of the university have access to the wifi.

    Central University Of Punjab Courses

    The varsity provides 79 courses at postgraduate and doctorate level. Engineering, management, commerce, pharmacy etc. stream courses are offered by the university. Some of the popular Central University of Punjab PG courses are M.Ed., M.A., M.Tech etc. All the PG courses are of 2 years duration. At the doctoral level, the university offers Ph.D programmes in 35 specialisations. The fee of CUPB courses vary from specialisation to specialisation and level of degree.

    Central University of Punjab Admissions

    For taking admission to the university postgraduates and doctoral courses, candidates need to appear for CUCET and obtain a valid score. Candidates who have not appeared for CUCET can apply for Central University of Punjab admission. The university also accepts GATE score for M.Tech admissions and GPAT score for M.Pharma admissions. For admission in Ph.D programmes, candidates who qualified UGC/CSIR/ASRB-NET, ICMR-JRF, GATE, GPAT, DBT-BET and JEST (Physics) don’t need to appear for the CUCET. As per the CUPB admission process, apart from the CUCET score, a personal interview is also conducted for admission in Ph.D programmes. The final selection for the Ph.D course is done based on the CUCET marks (if not qualified for the mentioned exam) and performance in the personal interview.

  • Central University of Punjab Cutoff

    Admission in postgraduate courses offered by the university is done based on the cutoff of CUCET. Central University of Punjab cutoff is released on the official website. Only candidates whose names are in the cutoff/merit list can take admission. The university releases cutoffs for multiple rounds of admissions. CUPB cut off is different for each programme. The CUCET cut off includes the registration number of the candidate, name of the candidate, marks obtained by candidates and category of the candidates. After meeting the cutoff requirements, candidates need to participate in the counselling conducted by the university.

    A well-maintained placement cell is there at the campus. The job of the placement cell is to ensure placement drives are conducted smoothly and maximum numbers of companies participate and hire students. Central University of Punjab placement cell also helps students in improving their skills. It conducts seminars, workshops etc. to boost students’ confidence. Along with placement opportunities, the placement cell also provides internship opportunities. Internships help students in knowing the professional world. According to the 2019-20 placement report of the university, 112 postgraduate students got placed and 120 students decided to pursue higher studies.
